Public Service and Outreach involves university departments or units partnering with community businesses, social agencies, government representatives, or individuals to address a unique external community need. More than 300 Public Service and Outreach programs and activities are supported by Illinois State faculty, staff and students.

Illinois State University Student Volunteer Center (Dean of Students Office) - offers opportunities for students to get involved at Illinois State and within the community. Community organizations who have a need for volunteers to assist with on-going or one-time projects that do not necessarily lend themselves to being paired with a course should contact this Center.

Presidential Scholars and Honor students perform outreach as a service learning component of their honor studies programs. Students can also be involved in outreach through service learning opportunities in internships and graduate practicums.

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) provides leadership and support to the entire Illinois State University campus and area higher education professionals in the pursuit of innovation and excellence in teaching, learning, and technology.

Many Registered Student Organizations (RSO's) perform outreach work as part of their group mission. When joining an RSO, ask if they are involved in outreach, or propose they include outreach as part of their RSO's plans for the coming academic year.

The Stevenson Center assists organizations with their community and economic development needs and trains graduate students for careers of service through partnerships with non-profit organizations, local governments, businesses, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and others.

Illinois State University's American Democracy Project - a cooperative effort by students, faculty, staff, and administration that promotes civic engagement, in many different forms, on the part of undergraduates, now and in the future.

The FOCUS Initiative (Faculty Opportunities for Creating Civic & Community Understanding among Students) is a faculty development program designed to emphasize the value of civic and community engagement at Illinois State University. The Initiative includes the FOCUS Module Series - an online instructional program for ISU faculty developed to support Illinois State University faculty with their efforts to incorporate civic and community engagement into the curriculum.

College & Main is a weekly, student-produced television program that highlights upcoming university events and outreach initiatives.
